LINGERIE season 1, episode 13: Rags To Riches

Alright, here we go, this is the finale episode of the first season of Lingerie, lucky . Written by John Quinn and Christopher Ware Smets, is this a satisfying conclusion to the season?

SPOILER ALERT: Well, sorta? I guess?

Just to give you the broad strokes, Lacey puts on her lingerie show, and it’s a smashing success. A really successful agent offers to buy her entire line and launch it in Europe and then the United States. As the show is winding down, Marilyn admits to Lacey that Jason is the mysterious benefactor who provided the money to make this happen, so she rushes out to catch him before he leaves, and the two of them have sex in the back of his car. THE END.

Overall I’m going to say that this season was inconsistent. I’ve said before that this series may have been better if it was like the Softcore TV series of the late 1990s/early 2000s, something like Nightcap or Hotel Erotica: Cabo, where you have a recurring setting and characters, but each episode is meant to stand alone. But this series was trying to be an ongoing soap opera, with plotlines that flow from one episode to the next. and that’s where it failed.

Jennifer Korbin was promoted as the star of the show, with the focus being on her character, Lacey, and her efforts to build and promote her lingerie business, and I feel like that’s a decent premise for a series, but the show often pushed her to the background. Instead, we get whole episodes devoted to things like Lacey’s brother’s roommate’s love life, while major plots like Lacey finding out that someone stole all of her designs, got ignored. We have Vanessa moving in, in the first episode, to help Lacey save money on rent, but then the two women barely interact for most of the season, which also made the whole “love triangle” they tried to develop between the then and Jason also feel forced. Lacey’s season-long romance with Rick, the firefighter, ended up feeling pointless, as he just suddenly got dismissed from the show. They made it seem like Lacey was falling for him over several episodes, but once the show decided they needed to get her back with Jason, they didn’t know what to do with Rick. And, speaking of Vanessa, her character also got the short stick in terms of plot, as she came to NY to be an actress, but the show barely focuses on that, and she spent more time posing for pictures for Jason. I could go on, but my complaints are in the previous reviews.

Still, the one saving grace of this series is the hot sex scenes (especially any scene involving Lana Tailor). We get three scenes in this episode, in addition to the final scene with Lacey and Jason, there’s one with Cody and Stephanie and one with Russ and Maddy. But it’s only that I’d give this whole season a combined Chacebook rating of THREE STARS
