SHARKEY THE BOUNTY HUNTER #3

The previous issue ended with Sharkey walking straight into an ambush led by Edra Deering, the notorious galactic terrorist he’s trying to capture. And she’s got a group of heavily armed men (well, aliens) with her. Things look pretty bleak for him but then he’s luckily saved by his ex-wife, a woman (alien) named Juda Cade, who is also working as a rival bounty hunter with her own team that’s been tracking Edra.

This is a very heavily action-oriented issue, as what follows is a prolonged laser gunfight between Sharkey, Juda and her team, and Edra and her team. In addition to weapons, we see that Edra also possesses several superpowers. Edra manages to get away, and Sharkey and Juda are arrested by the local police since bounty hunting is illegal in that part of the galaxy. This is where Extra-Billy showcases some impressive driving skills and manages to use the Snow Cone to rescue Sharkey and Juda and escape. The two exes agree to team up to continue to track down Edra together.

This is another very exciting issue, Mark Millar is good at writing action, and Simone Bianchi is even better at drawing it. I also love Bianchi’s attention to detail, from the exotic landscapes to the different and unique aliens species of the various background characters. There’s everything from human-looking creatures to talking alligators. This is turning out to be one of the most fun sci-fi action stories I’ve read in a long time.
