Written by Sandy Travis and directed by Christopher Warre Smets, this episode finally puts Lacey Summers (Jennifer Korbin) and her lingerie business back at the forefront of this series, which is what it’s ostensibly supposed to be about. So that’s immediately a step in the right direction, as far as I’m concerned.
Lacey is still struggling to pay bills. She’s trying to find models for an upcoming fashion show, but is finding it hard because she’s broke. She knows Vanessa (Lana Tailor) is planning to model for her, but Lacey needs at least 4 more women. Jeffrey (Geoff Stevens) tries to convince her to hire some male models to expand her line, but Lacey is reluctant until Stephanie (Erin Brown) convinces her to try, and she agrees to devote 20% of her line to male “lingerie” and will let Jeffrey help her design it.
That night, Lacey has a date with Rick, the firefighter (Chris Smits) back at her place, and after a couple of drinks, they finally consummate their relationship (they’d gone on a camping trip together, which she’d come back from at the beginning of the episode, but it was too cold in the tent for them to have sex). Afterward, Rick gets a phone call from his job and has to rush out to fight a fire.
Speaking of Vanessa, we see her lingerie photoshoot with Jason (Michael Murray Scratch) back at the loft. There’s some light flirting, as Jason says he’s glad she’s a lesbian, or else he’d be tempted to try to take advantage of her. After convincing Jason to take some nude photos of her for her own personal use, she admits that she’s not “100% lesbo,” and that she does like men, she just gravitates towards women, because men tend to be too controlling. Then she says she’s envious of Lacey for finding a good man like him, but she doesn’t understand he can handle their open relationship. When brings up Lacey’s date with Rick, Jason is visibly upset.
Marilyn (Denise Cobar) has a quicky at her house with Ian (Kevin Hurst), the investor she met in episode 2, but after they’re done and she asks if he’s got the funding he’s promised for Lacey, he says not yet, and just leaves.
Cody (Matt Fitzgerald) meets Jeffrey and Stephanie at a bar, where they’ve been drinking heavily. Cody ends up going home with Stephanie, where she reveals that she and Jeffrey had made a $10 bet on which one of them could get him into bed. Cody’s glad she won, and they have sex.
I like this episode, I hope it continues to focus on Lacey’s business as the primary storyline, with the supporting characters also getting their time to shine. And the sex scenes were hot. Chacebook rating: FOUR STARS
