SOFTCORE FILMS

A GIRL’S AFFAIR

Here’s another film from Torchlight Pictures, the studio that made cheap softcore films that really felt like they should be cheap hardcore films. A trademark of this studio’s pictures are minimal casts, with minimal scripts, and long sex scenes. They often cast hardcore film stars in leading roles, which makes the question of why they didn’t just go ahead and shoot hardcore films even more prominent.

Written by Anora Leachim and directed by Francis Locke, this film stars April Hannah as Aria, who owns a small struggling studio that she rents to film and photography studios. But because of her remote location, she doesn’t get many clients. Mark Maes plays…Mark, although he tells Aria she can call him Marky. He comes to apply for a job she’s listed, to be her net set construction man. Aria is instantly attracted to Marky, and during the interview, she starts to fantasize about the two of them having sex on her desk. Then she snaps out of it and tells him he’s got the job. She’s managed to book a famous model who needs to do some photo shoots in two days, so Marky’s job is to build the different sets, which include a hotel room and a beach.

Monica Mayhem stars as Katia, the model. She chose Aria’s studio because every other time she tries to book a studio to take pictures, the paparazzi and fans find out and follow her, so she can’t get any privacy. Mikey G. plays Claude, a famous photographer, hired to shoot Katia. The two of them don’t get along, they each think the other is arrogant and are constantly arguing in between shoots. Danielle Petty and Chris Evans play Claude’s assistants, Dana and Billy. Dana does Katia’s makeup, and Billy is the assistant cameraman.

Katia’s first shoot is just in a plain warehouse environment. We get about 4 minutes of her posing in a black leather outfit, and pulling down her top to show off her breasts. When it’s over, Katia and Claude start arguing again, but this tension leads to sex, which is something they’ve apparently been doing secretly for a while.

After the next shoot, which is in the hotel room set, the crew breaks for lunch, and Billy tells Dana about Katia’s and Claude’s affair, which they don’t think he knows about. Then it turns out that Billy and Dana are also secretly involved, and they have sex on the bed.

After lunch, they resume the photo shoot, which is Katia posing topless on the bed. After it’s over, Claude and Dana leave, and Billy comes on to Katia and they have sex.

Meanwhile, as Aria and Marky discuss how to get more business, Marky suggests leaking the fact that Katia is there to the press, as that will draw paparazzi, and get free publicity for her studio. Aria isn’t sure but considers it.

In the final photoshoot, against the beach backdrop, Katia is in a bikini and grass skirt. This is about a 6-minute sequence of her posing in the bikini, and stripping it off. When it’s over, she tries to leave but finds a bunch of paparazzi waiting for her outside. She doesn’t want to be seen, but Claude gets a little bit of cruel payback on her, pushing her outside in just her bikini anyway.

Apparently, this scheme works, as Aria gets more people wanting to film at her studio. She and Markey celebrate by finally having sex for real. THE END.

The story is silly, not even a softcore veteran like Petty can save it. But most of them do a decent job with the little material they’re given. Except for Mark Maes, he is terrible. Every time he speaks he sounds like he’s reading his lines off of a cue card. But the sex scenes are all top-notch, with most of them being around 10 minutes long. That’s all that makes this film worth watching for, and is enough for me to give it a VERY GENEROUS Chacebook rating of THREE STARS.
