Beverly Hills Bordello: THE BOYFRIEND

Kim Yates

Written by George Ayvas and directed by Robert Angelo, this was the 3rd episode of the Beverly Hills Bordello season 1.

Kim Yates stars as Linda, one of the escorts at the bordello (she refers to herself as a “call girl”), she’s been working for Veronica (Nicole Gian) for 3 years. For the past two weeks she’s been dating Frank (Daniel Namath), and although it’s still new Frank is absolutely smitten with her. But she hasn’t told him what she does for a living. When she finally does, he freaks out, and they have an argument about it, and she leaves.

The next night Frank goes to the bordello and tries to apologize to Linda, admitting that he was caught off guard by her revelation, but she’s surprisingly unsympathetic to his reaction. As far as she’s concerned, what she does is just a job like any other, and doesn’t think any man who wants to be with her should care about it.

So Frank decides to hire a call girl while he’s there. Veronica sets him up with Heather, played by Robin South. Then afterward he goes to talk to Linda again. She admits that now she gets how he feels, as seeing him go off with another woman made her jealous. Nevertheless, she still can’t see giving up her job, at least not anytime soon. So Frank decides to accept this and they’re going to continue their relationship. THE END.

Kim Yates was one of my favorite actresses back then, and she does a great job in this role. She and Namath have two sex scenes, and she also has one with Sam Anno, who plays one of Linda’s customers. Plus there’s the short sex scene with Namath and Robin South. But the story was not very engaging I have to say.

Just from a realistic point of view, I found Linda’s reaction to Frank’s reaction to learning about her job to be a little strange. She’s been doing this for three years, she really doesn’t understand that most men aren’t going to want to date a woman who has sex with other men for money? Even if she thinks it’s “just a job”, she has to know that it’s going to limit her dating opportunities. And Frank being so deeply in love with her, as he tells her after he slept with Heather, feels rushed. The happy ending felt like a cliche, I give it another month or so, tops, and then he’s going to get too upset with her sleeping with other men for her job, and then this relationship will end.

Chacebook rating: FOUR STARS
