Written by Anthony L. Greene and directed by Christopher Warre Smets, this episode opens with Vanessa filming a scene on her television show.
Yeah, that’s right, remember that this season opened with Vanessa having gotten hired as a co-lead on a hit television show? I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve forgotten that, since it’s barely been mentioned since then. It doesn’t seem to have affected her life in any way (like being able to move out to her own apartment). But in this episode, we see that the show is popular enough that Vanessa has fans stopping her on the street to get her autograph. I’m just saying, this should have changed her life at least somewhat.
Anyway, it looks like Hugh is in the process of getting written out of the show, despite starring in it for 6 seasons already. The opening scene is his character getting shot, and Vanessa screaming “NOOOO!” when she finds him which I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a parody as her acting in the scene really sucks. In their dressing room, Hugh points out that the next episode’s script has him in a coma while Vanessa’s character is assigned a new partner, a hot young Latino man. So, although it’s not official, he’s pretty sure that the writing is on the wall for him, as Vanessa has eclipsed his popularity. This fact is punctuated by the scene where two young women approach them both but only ask for Vanessa’s autograph and ignore Hugh. Hugh claims he’s happy for Vanessa’s success, and to cheer him up Vanessa has sex with him in the dressing room.
We see Jeffrey and Joanne with Lacey at her studio. They’re bored because there’s nothing to do as they have no work coming in. Lacey tries to be positive, saying she just needs to find some other distributor for her fashion line, and she leaves. Jefferey and Joan go to the bar to drink and commiserate.
Lacey goes to Cody’s apartment, catching him and Nicole as they are just about to have sex. She mentions her business troubles and Cody offers to loan her some money, talking about how much he’s made working for Giovanna. Lacey is surprised to hear that, although you’d think this is something he would have mentioned to her already. They’re supposed to be close, right? Lacey’s the one who got Cody his start as a model, but he didn’t tell her when he signed a contract with one of the biggest designers in the business?
Late at Giovanna’s studio, Nicole casually mentions Lacey’s troubles and Cody’s offer to help her to Giovanna and Richard. They act blase about it, but as Nicole is leaving she overhears Giovanna telling Richard to stop booking Cody so he’ll lose money and won’t be able to help Lacey.
Marilyn drops in at Daniel’s apartment and catches him in bed with another woman (played by Heather O’Donnell). She’s clearly hurt, but can’t really say anything as she knows that she and Daniel have no commitment. Daniel and the woman offer to let Marilyn join in, but she declines and leaves and the two of them finish having sex.
When she gets back to her place, Cormac shows up, saying she’s been ignoring all of his phone calls. He tries to apologize and offer her her old job back, even with her still being able to write a monthly column for a rival magazine, but she acts angry at him even though, in my opinion, he was right to fire her and she’s the one who immediately ran out and slept with another person. After some begging, she agrees to come back and they have sex on her bed.
Phillip tells Sebastian about how he believes Giovanna sabotaged his order for Lacey, playing a tape he secretly recorded of his conversation with her in the previous episode. Sebastian calls Lacey, but for some reason, he doesn’t tell her about Giovanna, he just says he’s decided to give her a second chance to fulfill a big order for him, which of course she accepts. This happened while she was having dinner with Jason and Vanessa in their apartment. And then Lacey starts planning another big fashion show to show off her line.
This just sounds like a repeat of how season 1 ended, with everything depending on Lacey being able to successfully put on a fashion show.
And then the three of them have the conversation that they should have had before they all started sleeping together back in episode 5, which discusses the rules and boundaries of their three-way situationship. Vanessa, asks if Lacey and Jason are okay with her still sleeping with other people, which they say they are. Then she asks if they’re only allowed to have sex as a trio, of if either of them is okay with her having sex with one of them while the other is not around. At this point, Lacey says she’s always wondered about what it was like when Vanessa and Jason were sleeping together before, and thinks she wants to see it in person.
So then Vanessa and Jason have sex on the couch while Lacey sits on the stairs and masturbates as she watches them. THE END
It’s time for another split rating, which I rarely do. But the storylines are getting dumber again. So the writing gets THREE STARS. But the four sex scenes we get in this episode are all top-notch, especially the two with Lana Tailor in it (as usual). So those get a Chacebook rating of FIVE STARS
