DRU BERRYMORE

In April 2003, 9 months after the final episode of The Best Sex Ever Season 1, the series returned with its second and last season. Angela Nicholas returns as Veronica, continuing to host her radio talk show.

This episode, written by Anthony L. Greene and directed by Chris Tudor, stars Dru Berrymore as Leah, who calls into the show to tell Veronica about how she got together with her fiance.

Leah was working as a temp at a property management firm while applying to go to grad school. Frank Harper plays Bob, one of the managers there, whom Leah had a crush on, but she was too nervous to do anything about it. We get a hot fantasy sequence where Leah imagines having sex with Bob in his office. She’s even more discouraged when she notices that Glynis (Missy Garland), the head of the firm, starts showing interest in Bob. Jodie Moore played Leah’s coworker Marci, who noticed Leah’s crush and Bob, and tries to encourage Leah to dress and act sexier, as Leah usually has her hair pinned back in a bun, wears glasses, and buttoned-up outfits to work.

Marci invites Leah to her loft that night, where she teaches an all-female aerobics class. Leah goes but is surprised to see all the other women in bras, panties, or lingerie. It turns out the class is for strip aerobics. Unlike the other women, Leah gets through the class but doesn’t strip, unlike the rest of the women. In the end, she doesn’t plan to come back, but Marci convinces her to keep trying, and she eventually gets into it and starts acting more confident and starts going to work with her glasses off, her hair down, and skimpier outfits. Finally, Bob asks her for dinner, and they go out three times. but Leah says that Bob was “old fashioned,” so they hadn’t had sex yet.

But then Glynis sees what’s going on and gets jealous. So, she replaces Leah at work. Leah prepares to move to New York, where she’s been accepted to a grad school, but Marci convinces her to not give up on Bob. So, while he’s working late at the office, Leah surprises him and gives him a lap dance at his desk, and then they have sex, for real, this time. Then she tells Veronica that she moved to New York for school, and Bob transferred to the firm’s New York office to be with her.

Dru Berrymore is a good softcore actress, I wouldn’t say she’s one of my favorites but she always performs her scenes well in everything I’ve seen her in. In addition to the two sex scenes with Harper, we get a scene where she is in her bedroom in lingerie and performs a pole dance strip tease up against one of her bed posts. Plus, there are various scenes in the aerobics classes where she, Jodie Moore, and several other women (including Summer Fields, who has no lines) get naked.

Jodie Moore also has a sex scene with Alexander Boisvert (Voodoo), who plays Marci’s ex-boyfriend, Armie. I’ll give this episode a Chacebook rating of THREE STARS while adding that if you’re a bigger fan of Berrymore, you’d probably like it more than I do.
