Written by Darin Scott, who is credited as Darin “Shotgun” Scott in the opening credits for some reason, this has to be one of the most violent episodes of this series. Spoilers are unavoidable, so be aware as you continue reading.
Diana Elizabeth Torres stars as Lydia Gonzales; she’s the mistress of a brutal Drug Cartel leader known only as El Jefe, who is well-known but also somehow nobody knows his actual identity. She’s been arrested, and Brady Matthews is Chris Wade, the local D.A. who wants to use her to find out who El Jefe is so they can finally track him down and arrest him. Chris takes Lydia before a judge (Raymond Forchion), and they both promise her immunity and protection if she gives the information about El Jefe. But Lydia is too scared; she says she can’t talk because El Jefe knows everything and will find her and kill her if she does. So the judge sends her to jail. This is all taking place late at night on Christmas Eve, so Lydia is sent to a holding cell in the police station overnight, where she’ll be sent to a woman’s prison the following day.
We see a bunch of cops having a small Christmas party in the station. Among them is Ellie Cornell, in her fourth and final appearance in this series as Detective Janet Wright. She mentions that despite it being Christmas weekend, she’s going off to track down a lead on a woman whom she believes is “The Grim Reaper,” the serial killer of prostitutes whom Janet secretly let escape back in the episode Angels and Demons.
Chris goes to the cell and takes Lydia out of it to his office, where he tries to convince her to turn state’s evidence against El Jefe, but she keeps going on about how dangerous he is. We get a brief flashback sequence where we see Lydia walking in on El Jefe, played by Asher Deva, having sex with another woman (who is uncredited). Chris continues to try to convince Lydia that he can protect her, and this eventually leads to her falling into his arms, and the two of them have sex on his desk.
Crystal Lightning, Kristen DeLuca, and Sierra Love play Candela, Beverly, and Isabella, three prostitutes who have been arrested and brought into the HQ to be placed in the holding cells that night. Christian Victor Levatino is Officer Greene, who is guarding the cells. He approaches each woman in her cell, making sexual comments to them, which Isabell and Beverly ignore, but Candela reacts positively, telling Officer Greene how horny she is, and strips out of her clothes in front of him. Of course, Greene takes the bait, unlocking the cell and going inside, where Candela sits down on a bench as Greene kneels between her legs and starts going down on her. The way Candela loudly moans, you’d think Greene is doing a great job until she suddenly reaches down, grabs his head, and twists his neck, instantly killing him with her bare hands.
Note: this is physically impossible unless Candela has superhuman strength, but this fact is never addressed.
Candela then takes Greene’s keys, frees Beverly and Isabelle, and the three ladies sneak down to the armory, where they strangle the guarding officer (Joe Kraemer) to death and steal his keys to get the stash of guns that the police keep down there. They grab three automatic shotguns and head upstairs.
Meanwhile, we see El Jefe walk into the judge’s office and shoot him dead.
Back in Chris’ office, he and Lydia have finished having sex and gotten dressed, with Lydia still refusing to give information about El Jefe. That’s when the three prostitutes enter the office, as Lydia reveals that they are “the Furies,” special assassins who work for El Jefe. They tie Chris to a chair, tie up and gag Lydia, and take her away. They go to the front office, where the group of police officers are still celebrating Christmas (although it’s around 3am by this point), and shoot them all dead.
The shots happen off-screen, but we do get a brief shot of the aftermath of about a dozen cops lying dead on the floor as the Furies walk out with Lydia.
A van pulls up to the front of the station, driven by El Jefe, The Furies take Lydia into the back of the van, where we get the big PLOT TWIST.
Lydia is El Jefe. The man we thought was El Jefe is just Ricardo, who, like the Furies, works for her. We get a flashback to that scene of Ricardo having sex with that other woman, but now we see that after they both noticed her, she kicked the woman and joined Ricardo on the bed where they had sex, with her clearly being in charge. Lydia slaps Candela for tying her hands too tight, and Candela begs for forgiveness. And the van drives off into the night.
As plot twists go, this isn’t bad, although it’s not exactly original, as “the victim is really the bad guy” is a twist this series has used several times before. But at least it was well-acted and had some hot sex scenes (plus Kristen DeLuca shows her breasts twice). It’s a shame that there’s only one more episode this season, and then the series ended. I feel like a great episode for a third season would have been bringing Detective Wright back to track down and confront El Jefe to get revenge for all those police officers she knew who got murdered. Oh well.
