SOFTCORE FILMS

PASSION’S PEAK

Happy New Year!

Okay, for anyone who’s still checking in, I know I’ve been mostly MIA for the past several months, but I hope to get back on track with regular updates. So let’s start 2026 with a new review of a old softcore movie!

This 2000 film from Indigo Entertainment was written by Heather Carson and Edward Holzman, directed by John Quinn, and stars Kelli McCarty as Christina. The basic premise of the film is that Christina has recently inherited a broken-down old lodge in a sweet little mountain town outside of Los Angeles called Shadow’s Peak, which she intends to open up to tourists. So we see her trying to get the lodge ready for her first guests, who are due in just a few days to stay for the weekend. Along the way, we get some small attempts at manufactured drama.

The studio cast a good team of attractive softcore regulars for this film. Bobby Johnston plays Chip, he’s a local resident who knew Christina from when they were both little kids, as they’d play together whenever she’d come to town to visit her grandparents, who used to own the lodge before they passed away and left it to Christina. Chip’s a contractor now, so he begins helping Christina with various repairs that the lodge needs, including a faulty pipe in the kitchen sink, which itself becomes a bit of a plot point in the film. Chip’s younger sister Bait (yeah, that’s her name), played by Renee Rea, and her friend Hank, played by Jason Schnuit, soon begin working at the lodge for Christina. Miyoko Fujimori and Sebastien Guy play Linda and Eric, a couple who are on vacation together in the area, originally camping in the woods, sleeping in a tent. But when it rains one night, they come to the lodge to ask if they can rent a room, thus becoming Christina’s first official guests. Monique Parent plays Sophia Lange, she’s a successful romance novelist who came to the lodge to write her latest book (Bait turns out to be a big fan of hers and is thrilled to meet her), and then rounding out the cast are Paul Logan and Devinn Lane, as James and Shene, the last guests to arrive for the weekend. And this is where the main drama comes from.

We know from the start of the movie that James and Christina used to date, until she dumped him. We get a bit more about the relationship later, including that Christina used to be a stripper, which is where she met James, although she’s eager to put that life behind her now and doesn’t like to talk about it. Shene is currently a stripper, with dreams of running her own dance studio someday. Shene doesn’t know about James and Christina, and when they show up at the lodge, neither James nor Christina acts like they know each other in front of her. Christina and James later argue privately, as she didn’t know he was coming and is pissed at him because she doesn’t want to see him ever again. But James gloats at her discomfort, as his goal is to make her jealous…or to win her back, somehow. It’s not clear what his plan is, and either way, it doesn’t work. And this is the main “manufactured drama” of this film that I’m talking about, as other than that, there’s not much of a story here.

But at least there is lots of sex.

We’d already seen James and Serene together before they arrived at the lodge, in addition to a flashback scene where James remembers a time he had sex with Christina. We also see Bait and Hank have sex, but it’s clear that they’re not serious; they’re just hooking up.

Eric and Linda have sex on a balcony, and Sophia overhears them in her room and masturbates. Later Sophia, Bait, and Shene strip down around a hot tub together, and Sophia starts reading some of writing, which turns the other ladies on so much that they start having sex with each other. But don’t worry, Sophia finally gets some real sex later, when Hank comes into her room at night and comes on to her.

But Eric and Linda aren’t all that happy together. They have some personality differences, which culminate in a fight during dinner with everyone else at the lodge, and leads Linda to dump Eric and leave to go back at home.

Back to our main couple, Chip and Christina admit that they each had a crush on the other back then but were too shy to admit it. They go for it now, and start hooking up, and this includes a funny scene where Christina and Chip are having sex in one room (in a bed) while James and Shene are having sex in the room next to them (in a bathtub), and each couple of trying to be as loud as they can so the other couple can there. But this is all on the part of James and Christina, as Shene and Chip are still oblivious to their history. Eventually, after trying to get James to leave, she tells Shene everything about him, and she dumps James (and ends up hooking up with Eric), and so then James tells Chip about them, and Chip gets mad and leaves her.

And then at the last minute, there is a little crisis about some local zoning laws that could cause the town to shut down the lodge, but don’t worry, everything gets resolved very quickly and neatly.

Again, it’s got a great cast. All the women are hot, and everyone’s a decent actor. I’ve always been a particular fan of Kelli McCarty. I wish she’d done a lot more softcore films. Devinn Lane is also a treat. She was primarily a hardcore performer, but also does very well in softcore. The sex scenes are great, I’ll note that we get a clear shot of all the actresses’ bare vaginas (Devinn is pierced). The weak part is the story. I just never had any reason to care about why James was after Christina, or any of the couples in general. So I’m going to give this film one of my rare split-ratings.

Story: THREE STARS
Sex scenes: FIVE STARS
