BOUNTY HUNTRESS 2 aka Sexual Temptations

Originally titled Sexual Temptations, this film was released in 2001 from MRG Entertainment, the same year as a film called Beautiful Bounty. The latter film was later re-released as The Bounty Huntress, and this film was re-released as Bounty Huntress 2. So it’s not a real sequel, as the films are not connected, it’s got a different cast playing different characters. All that these two films have in common is the same director, Madison Monroe, and a plot that involves a female law enforcement officer who is trying to catch a male criminal.

Written by Steve Martel, this film stars Chelsea Blue as junior FBI agent Carly Davis. Joe Souza costars as Jack Sullivan. He has a habit of seducing rich older women and then stealing expensive jewelry from them. But the women are always so enamored of him that even after he rips them off they don’t want to press changes. He’s moved to L.A. where he’s opened a private gym for women, where he’s a personal trainer, and Carly goes undercover, posing as a wealthy woman who supposedly got a bunch of expensive diamonds from her ex-husband in a divorce, to try to gain Jack’s trust and set him up to catch him trying to steal from her.

Paul D’Napoli stars as Trent, a senior FBI agent who gives Carly this assignment and sets up her cover identity, including falsifying her background and renting a mansion for her to live in. The two of them also have a sexual relationship, although it’s unclear how long it’s been going on and how serious it is. Dru Berrymore is Laura, Jack’s assistant at the gym, Darby Daniels is Rebecca James, one of Jack’s regular customers, and rounding out the main cast is Rafe, as Armando, an associate whom Jack hires to investigate Carly, to find out if her identity is real.

The story is pretty simple, Carly goes into Jack’s gym to hire him as her personal trainer, telling him her fake backstory. Jack is suspicious of her (hence why he hired Armando), but quickly starts flirting with her. As they get closer, Jack gets more suspicious, and although he seems harmless it’s implied that he could be dangerous if he finds out the truth about Carly, which is supposed to escalate the dramatic tension as the film continues.

But the story doesn’t really work for me. First, I’m no lawyer, but I’m not sure about the legality of this plan, it feels like it could be entrapment. And if none of Jack’s previous victims want to testify against him, why is the FBI even after him? And even if law enforcement was involved, wouldn’t just be the local police, what makes this a federal case? And apparently, Jack is irresistible to women, as Carly falls for him almost immediately, risking her career to start sleeping with him. This of course complicates the investigation and her career, which she never seems to give serious concern about. It just seems like such reckless behavior from her.

In the end, SPOILER ALERT, I GUESS, a sting operation is set up, where Carly and Trent take a bunch of uniformed agents to stake out Carly’s fake house to catch Jack stealing the diamonds. But he manages to outsmart them, he gets the diamonds and skips the country. But then in the very end, Carly goes home to find a postcard from Jake, who is in Paris, and she smiles with the implication that she’s going to go there to be with him.

So overall the plot’s not bad, and like most MRG movies of this era, it looks good. But the execution of the plot was flawed to me, as I just never could buy why Carly was so attracted to Jack, nor did Jack ever come off as particularly dangerous. To be clear, this isn’t the fault of the cast, who I think all do the best they can with the material. Chelsea Blue is a favorite of mine, she is gorgeous and a great actress. Joe Souza (aka Matt Dalpiaz) is also a good softcore actor, and Daniels and Berrymore also stand out in their comparatively smaller roles. So it’s a decent film.

But what puts this film in the recommended category is the 8 smokin’ hot sex scenes!

Chelsea Blue is in 4 scenes, she has one with Paul D’Napoli and one with Joe Souza, and then one scene where it’s her and Souza for most of it but then the man turns into D’Napoli at the end, as it’s a fantasy sequence where Carly is imagining that she’s having sex with Jack only to snap out of it at the end and realize that she’s having sex with Trent. They do this again in another scene, except it’s more of a back-and-forth, switching between Chelsea having sex with D’Napoli and Souza.

Souza gets a lot of work in, in this film, as in addition to the scenes with Blue he has solo scenes with Darby Daniels, and Dru Berrymore, and a threesome scene with both of them together.

The final scene is Rafe and Nikita Cash, who plays an ex of Armando’s who also happens to be a computer expert.

Even if you may want to just skip through the film to the sex scenes, it’s worth watching. Chacebook rating: FOUR STARS
