SOFTCORE TELEVISION

LINGERIE season 2, episode 6: The Morning After

Written by Doug Miller and directed by Christopher Warre Smets, this episode begins with Vanessa waking up in bed with Jason and Lacey, after the threesome that they had the night before. She gets up, with a big smile on her face, and then leaves. Then Jason and Lacey wake up. Lacey asks where Vanessa is, and Jason says she went to her room. She asks if he’s okay, he says of course and tells her that he loves her. She just replies “you better.”

Later in the episode Lacey is having drinks at the bar with Marilyn and tells her about the threesome. Lacey claims that things got “very awkward” that morning, even though we didn’t see any evidence of that. Marilyn isn’t surprised considering their living situation, but Lacey just shrugs it off as “it seemed like a good idea at the time.” Marilyn then cautions her to keep an eye on Jason, as he might start wanting threesomes all the time, which apparently Lacey never considered, thinking once would be enough for him. Marilyn also points out that it could be Vanessa who wants more, reminding Marilyn of the fling that Vanessa and Jason had in season 1. Again, it’s as if Lacey forgot all about that.

Even for softcore, where I’m used to characters having sex without thinking through the consequences, this just feels like a poorly written plot, mainly because it does not fit these characters, as they’ve been written up until this point.

Later we see Jason rushing home to see Lacey, he opens the bathroom door thinking she’s in the shower, but it’s actually Vanessa. Jason acts embarrassed to see her naked, but Vanessa is cool about it, pointing out to him that it’s nothing he hasn’t seen before. She then tells him how much she enjoyed last night and suggests that they talk to Lacey about doing it again sometime. Jason doesn’t think it’s a good idea, telling her that he loves Lacey, but Vanessa just says that she does too, which is all the more reason they should do it again. And then she goes to her room, leaving Jason looking uncomfortable.

That night, Vanessa brings Rena home and they start to have sex on the living room couch (again, they get in the cowgirl position, this time with Vanessa on top, even though… never mind). Jason is awakened by the noise sneaks out of bed and watches through the open door, obviously excited. Then Lacey wakes up too, and she’s also excited. The two of them secretly watch Vanessa and begin playing with each other for a little bit, before closing the door to go back to bed.

So that’s where that storyline is left. But like my frequent complaint about season 1, major storylines like the fact that Lacey finally found a US-based garment factory to fulfill her big order for Sebastian are ignored. You’d wonder how Giovanna is going to react to that news, but she’s not even in this episode. Instead, we get random subplots about supporting characters.

Marilyn and Cormac’s relationship is getting complicated, as she just got profiled in a major fashion magazine, which he sees as his competition. But I never really cared about Marilyn as a character or this relationship (although we do get a hot sex scene from them). Richard continues to work with Nicole, training her to be a professional model. They also have a hot sex scene, but I don’t care about that storyline either. Lacey finds out that Joanna still wants to be a model and is only working part-time at the bar to pay her bills, and offers her Stephanie’s old job as her assistant, which Joanna accepts. And, then Joanna hooks up with Cody (another hot scene), even though he’s continuing to act like a major jackass.

Not one of the best episodes, I hope this show gets back on track with the next one.

Chacebook rating: THREE STARS
