LINGERIE season 2, episode 9: Screwed

Written by Doug Miller and directed by Christopher Warre Smets, this episode begins with Jason having a hot passionate sex scene with his ex-wife Tracy. This turns out to just be a dream, as he wakes up in bed alone.

After getting dressed Jason talks to Lacey, telling him about his job with Tracy, and her offer to publish a book of his photography. Again, Lacey totally freaks out, acting like a jealous teenager, who can’t stand the idea of Jason working with his ex-wife (who cheated on him, which is why their marriage ended). Lacey later talks to Vanessa about this, who tries to convince her that she’s overreacting and she needs to show Jason that she trusts him. So at the end of the day, after Jason comes home she’s waiting for him in the bedroom in sexy lingerie and they have sex.

However, in between all that, Lacey is also dealing with the screwup of her order. She, Jeffrey, and Joanne go meet with Phillip at his factory, as they all try to figure out what happened and who’s to blame. Phillip says he has his suspicions but doesn’t want to say anything to them until he has some proof. He goes to meet with Giovanna, accusing her of sabotaging the delivery, but she denies it. Sebastian comes to meet with Lacey, telling her that his product launch was ruined because of her so he’s canceling the rest of his order and won’t be doing business with her in the future.

The problem with this is that this should be the main storyline of the episode, and the focus of Lacey’s attention. I mean, supposedly, this deal with Sebastian was supposed to be the lifeline of her company, but now she’s lost it. So what is she going to do? But her attention is divided because of this sudden story with Jason and Tracy. The episode should end with her in the studio trying to figure out how to survive, instead of some romantic scene with Jason.

Plus, this whole storyline came out of nowhere. I don’t think it was even mentioned that Jason had an ex-wife before the previous episode, but now she’s so significant to him? There was zero flirting when they met before, but then he’s dreaming about her. And as he sees her in this episode he keeps having flashbacks of his dream. It just feels forced. I mean, if they wanted to do a jealousy storyline to cause conflict with Jason and Lacey, they should have followed through on what they were building up about the fallout of the two of them having a threesome with Vanessa. But now that seems to be going nowhere.

The other storyline of this episode involves Cody and Nicole. They’re still happy and we see them having hot sex. But then when they’re doing their new photoshoot, Richard is unhappy because he says they no longer have the same chemistry as when they did their first photoshoot in episode 5. The implication is that the first one worked because they didn’t like each other, which showed up as “heat” on film. Well, when Nicole casually mentions that she slept with Richard (in episode 6) Cody gets upset and starts flirting with Nancy, the makeup artist that he’d slept with before, which makes Nicole upset. So when Richard re-starts the photoshoot, they’re back to being angry with each other, which brings back the heat in the photos that Richard wanted.

I’m going to do a split rating on this episode. The writing gets THREE STARS but the sex scenes get FIVE STARS.
