SOFTCORE TELEVISION

THE BEST SEX EVER season 1, episode 6: PRIVATE EYES

JULIA KRUIS

Written by Anthony L. Greene and Daryl Haney and directed by Valerie Landsburg, this was the first episode of this series that I ever saw. Obviously, I was impressed enough with it to keep watching the series as it progressed.

Randy Spears stars as Guy, a private detective, who writes a letter to Veronica’s (Angela Nicholas) radio show that she reads on the air. Guy was hired by a rich man named Donald (Joel Polis), to spy on Donald’s younger wife Shannon (Julia Kruis), while Donald is away on business. Donald reiterates that he needs iron-clad evidence of her cheating, to help him in a divorce. Guy sets up spy cameras inside the house and monitors them from the inside of a van that he parks across the streets.

That first morning, after Donald leaves, Guy spies Shannon coming out of her shower and making a phone call to an apparent lover. She lays naked on her living room couch and masturbates as they have phone sex.

Next Guy watches as a man named Steve (John Crown) comes over. He’s her lover and is a neighbor. Shannon is a little worried, telling Steve that she has a feeling that she’s being watched, and thinks they’ll get caught. Steve tells Shannon that she’s being paranoid, and the two of them have sex on the couch.

At this point, Guy has all the evidence that he needs, and we see him rewatching the tape of Shannon and Steve in his office. But something is preventing him from turning the tape over to Donald.  He decides to keep watching her.

An earlier scene showed Guy trying to tape into Shannon’s phone line, dressed up as a local telephone repairman. He’s met by Julie (Candace Washington), who says she’s a neighbor of Shannon’s and she acts suspicious of Guy, but also a bit flirtatious. Well, the next day Guy watches as Julie comes over to see Shannon. It turns out that Julie is Steve’s wife, and she tells Shannon that she suspects that Steve is having an affair, because she smelled a “familiar” perfume on him. But just as Shannon is worried that she’s been caught, Julie tells her that she suspects the other woman is someone from Steve’s office. To comfort her, and perhaps throw her off of her own trail, Shannon seduces Julie, and they have sex on a desk in Donald’s home office.

Guy watches the action intently from his van but then, in a surprising plot twist, as the ladies are finishing in a 69, with Julie on top, Julie looks up in the direction of the camera and winks, as if she knows Guy is watching.

Next, we see Julie show up at Guy’s office, saying she followed him and knows he’s spying on Shannon. She just wants the tape of her and Shannon and tries to seduce Guy to get it. And it’s implied that they do have sex, but we don’t see it! Instead, the show just cuts to Guy talking to Shannon in her home, confessing everything, and turning over the tapes he has of her. He says that he can’t bring himself to tell Donald the truth because he thinks she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen and he can’t stop thinking about her. So then Guy and Julia have sex on her bed. And that’s the end.

Randy Spears is a longtime pro in both hardcore and softcore, so he’s a good leading man here. I’ve always enjoyed watching Julia Kruis in everything she’s in (although I’ll admit that I find her single nipple piercing to be a bit distracting). Candace Washington is smoking hot, and I always thought she could have been a much bigger star in softcore, but she only did a half dozen roles and then disappeared. Her lesbian scene with Julia here was epic but I feel cheated that they teased but didn’t actually show a sex scene with her and Spears. And it didn’t make sense how she knew about Guy, they could’ve cut that whole subplot out of the episode.

Chacebook rating: FOUR STARS

  1. I agree about Candace Washington. She is smoking hot and feel that it was a missed opportunity that she never had a sex scene with Randy Spears in the episode. I would have probably swapped roles with her and Julia and had her play Shannon and Julia play Julie.
