In this episode, Darcy DeMoss’ character, Randi, finally gets something substantial to do. Her deadbeat ex-husband, Gabe, played by Christian Bocher, shows up as a guest at Eden. It’s made clear that they have a bad history, which includes him leeching money from her and physical abuse. But he swears he’s a changed man, says he recently made a bunch of money in Las Vegas, and now wants to try to rekindle their relationship, but Randi is reluctant to give him a chance.
Not so reluctant that she doesn’t have sex with him, of course. We get to see DeMoss in all her glory in a smokin’ hot sex scene on the beach!
Despite this, Randi continues to reject Gabe when he pressures her to quit working at Eden and return to L.A. with him. He even goes so far as to meet with Eve and tell her that Randi’s quitting. Later, when Randi confronts him about that, it devolves into an argument where she bites him, and he slaps her, and she storms out of his room.
It was a good little storyline for the character, which gave DeMoss a chance to show off her acting skills and her body. And, interestingly, she and Christian Bocher have remained friends to this day!
The Ian-Victoria-Andrea love triangle concludes in this episode. Victoria had already left after the end of the previous episode. Ian (Christopher M. Ohrt) is now preparing to leave, but Andrea (Diana Barton) keeps showing up in his room, begging him to stay. Ian pointedly rejects her, sending Andrea into clear Crazy Bitch Mode. She starts screaming and crying, to no avail, and then, after Ian leaves, she actually tries to commit suicide. I won’t go into details about it, because it’s a depressing scene, but she survives and is comforted by Eve (Barbara Alyn Woods).
Lacey and Marney (Jill Pierce and Kristen Fontaine) team up to get their revenge on B.D. (Jack Armstrong) for sleeping with each of them. They come over to his room and make him think that they’re going to have a threesome, only to leave him alone and frustrated at the last minute.
It’s funny, but also a shame, because a threesome scene would’ve been amazing.
And finally, there’s Eve. She has another hot fantasy of having sex with her Late husband Grant (Jeff Griggs), but the twist is that near the end, Grant’s face briefly switches to Josh (Steve Chase), leaving her confused about her feelings…
Okay, so this is a nice and satisfying wrap-up to this initial run of episodes. It concludes a couple of plotlines while advancing others. Chacebook rating: FOUR STARS
