LINGERIE season 1, episode 10: Double Double

Mia Presley

Written by Sandy Travis and directed by Christopher Warre Smets, this episode continues a negative trend this series has, of not focusing on it’s main character. You’d think after the events of episode 9, the fallout of Lacey discovering that Jason and Vanessa have been sleeping together would be addressed. But, nope, that’s pushed to the back burner (Jason doesn’t even appear in this episode), and instead, the episode switches to other storylines.

Marilyn makes dinner for Cormac in her apartment. She tells him that she’s tired of just working freelance, and wants an official job with his magazine, and he agrees to hire her as an editor. And then they have sex.

See Vanessa auditioning for a modern-day adaptation of Macbeth. It doesn’t seem to go too well, but afterward, she sticks around and watches some other actresses audition, and they all suck. The director (series creator John Quinn himself) is surprised when he sees her still there, and tells her he was planning to call her back for another audition as she was the best actress so far. She’s really excited and he asks to take her to lunch to talk about her ideas for the role, but she says she has to go. Mia Presley, whom we last saw in episode 2, returns as Vanessa’s ex-girlfriend Josie. She’s in town to visit Vanessa. They have drinks in Vanessa’s loft, where Vanessa tells her about how the audition went. Josie is suspicious of the director’s motives and admits she was hoping Vanessa’s acting career wasn’t going well so that she’d come back to Seattle with her. But Vanessa is determined to stay in New York. And then the two of them have sex.

Emily MacLeod, who we last saw in episode 3, returns as Joanne, one of Cody’s flings, shows up at his apartment while he’s sitting alone playing his guitar in his underwear. She’s upset because he still hasn’t introduced her to Lacey like he promised. He swears he’s just been busy, but will do it as soon as possible. And they have sex.

As for Lacey, she shows up about halfway through the episode. She’s in her studio with Stephanie and Jeffery. She’s so depressed because she’s broke and tells them that she appreciates their loyalty but it’s time for them to start looking for new jobs since she’s not going to be able to pay them. She then goes to Cody’s apartment to commiserate with him, where she bumps into Joanne just as she’s leaving, and offers to let her come to the studio to take some pics. Then she talks to Cody about her business and personal troubles. She talks about having to choose between Rick and Jason, and then Cody gives her an idea of how she can make some quick money to compete in the upcoming fashion show.

This episode was another example of the series’ inconsistency. Maybe it’s because it has so many different writers from one episode to the next, instead of one writer writing each episode? After the last episode, the Lacey/Jason/Vanessa love triangle should have been the main plot in this one. And in the past couple of episodes, it looked like things were looking up for Lacey’s business, but now it’s back to her failing. I don’t know what’s going on.

The sex scenes were decent, but nothing spectacular. Not even the Lana Tailor/Mia Presley lesbian scene. Chacebook rating: THREE STARS
