Alright, here we go, it’s the 8th and finale episode of the 1 and only season of Cougar Club LA.
The episode opens with all of the ladies getting together so Psalm can show them the photos from the Free The Nipple calendar photoshoot that they did in episode 7. They look good. I still wish I could find a copy of it, just as a collector’s item. I’ve checked eBay, to no avail. Then Babe has a lingerie fashion show she’s putting on that night, and all of the ladies are going to be models for it, and they’re going to meet later to rehearse.
As the rest of the ladies leave, Vikki and Rikki stay behind and talk, with Rikki asking why Vikki didn’t go to the gym with Michelle, like she always does. But Vikki doesn’t want to go because Kenan would be there, and she hasn’t seen him since she ended their situationship in episode 5. Rikki is again unsympathetic towards Vikki and doesn’t get why she doesn’t just get over him, but Vikki admits to the camera she still likes him and takes the fact that he turned down her FWB request, which most guys would jump at, as proof that he’s not like most guys which makes her want to be with him even more.
We see Michelle at the gym, practicing boxing with Kenan, and they talk about Vikki, and Michelle rather impulsively invites him to the fashion show, which he agrees to. And of course she doesn’t tell Vikki about it.
We later see the ladies all rehearing, tying on their lingerie, and this is one of situations you often see on “reality” TV, where they try to manufacture some kind of drama, as we see Babe worried that the ladies aren’t taking this seriously enough, and acts like her entire career depends on this show. She is happy that Brendan, the young man that she first met in episode 2 and then met again and hooked up with in episode 6, shows up to encourage her and offer her support. She says she is happy that her “new man” is there, so I guess they’re officially in a relationship now?
When it’s time for the show, Babe goes out but basically freezes, she’s nervous with stage fright. It doesn’t start off going well, she starts fumbling her words as she tries to introduce the models, we even get a shot of a woman in the audience loudly yawning, but she finally gains her composure, and each of the ladies comes out one after enough, molding different lingerie outfits, and in the end, Babe gets on the runway and strips off her dress to model this hot red lingerie set that she is wearing underneath.
After the show, as the crowd is mingling, Babe sneaks off to a couch with Brandon to thank him for being there, and they start making out. They then go to a room and have (real) sex.
While Vikki is talking to some ladies, Kenan walks right up to her and kisses her and then just picks her up in his arms. He takes her to a room where they talk, and he says he can’t stay away from her, and agrees to her terms. Vikki tells the camera that even though he says he’s fine with being FWB now, she can tell that he’s betting it’ll turn to more, and says that “my heart thinks he might be right.” They have hot sex, which ends with them passionately kissing. And then that’s it. The episode is over.
Well, I have to say that despite the two climaxes, this was an anti-climactic ending to this season. You’d think you’d end with some kind of group shot of all the women, them saying goodbye to each other, maybe some credits informing us what happens next, but we get nothing of that. There’s no indication that this is the final episode, other than the fact that there’s no preview for the next episode, unlike the previous episodes always had. I imagine that if I’d been watching the show weekly when it was first broadcast I’d be a bit confused, unsure if I should be waiting for another episode the following week.
Well, overall, even though I mostly enjoyed most of the episodes, I can see why it didn’t continue. As I said in my review of episode 1, the fact that the show had “LA” in the title makes me guess that Playboy was hoping to turn this into a franchise like Real Housewives, Basketball Wives, and shows of that ilk which would have spin-off shows in other cities, but that never came to be, and it’s likely due to the reception of this season. I’d imagine that it’s not quite what the male audience for the Playboy Channel wanted. With the title it has, I was expecting a show that was much raunchier, with these aggressive older women going out and bedding different younger men each episode, but these “cougars” were rather tame. It focused more on the friendship between the women than their dating adventures. When it did focus on dating, it was good, but overall I’d say it wasn’t enough. The Ashlynn/Rikki relationship seemed the most promising, especially with the little “love triangle” developing between them and Vikki, but after a couple of episodes, it was dropped.
So overall, I’m going to give the series a Chacebook rating of THREE AND A HALF STARS.
P.S. I tried to do some research to see what each woman has been up to since the show ended in 2016.
I noted before that Pslam, who had a tragic history, would commit suicide in March 2017. Her son Gabe Isadora is still continuing her tantric sex business under her name, which includes running her Instagram page.
It looks like Michelle continued competing for the Women of Wrestling Federation,, but she’s not currently listed as a competitor on their website, and the Instagram page for her character, The Dagger, hasn’t been updated since March 2022. It’s unclear what she’s doing for a living now, and her personal Instagram page hasn’t been updated since November 2023, but it does look like she’s in a happy relationship (with an older man).
Ashlynn’s website, advertising her various services including hypnotherapy and tarot readings, is still active. But her Instagram page hasn’t been updated since July 2021, and there’s no indication if she’s still single or not.
I can’t find anything on Babe’s lingerie business. And her Instagram page only has 3 posts, the last one of which is from December 2023. But I noticed that she’s following Brendan Forbes, a photographer whom I’m almost positive is Brendan from this show (he doesn’t have a clear photo of himself, though).
But he’s not following her back, so I don’t know what happened between them.
Rikki is the only one with an active public Instagram page. She’s in a happy relationship, with a man, I can’t tell if they’re married or just living together, but they have an adorable 1 year old son.
I found out that Kenan is actually Keenan Lewis, and in addition to being a personal trainer, he’s an MMA fighter, with a not-overly-impressive record of 6 wins and 5 losses, his last fight being in March 2023.
I see that Vikki is following him on Instagram but he’s not following her back (he and Michelle are following each other, though), so it doesn’t look like they lasted. She has lots of selfies and pictures with her sister and friends on her Instagram page (her page is private, but I sent a follow request and she accepted it a couple of hours later), but it’s not sharing any relationship status.
