EDEN episode 2

For some reason, my DVD only shows credits for the first episode, and the show’s IMDB doesn’t show full credits either, so I guess I assume that this episode is also written by Stephan Black and Henry Stern and directed by Victor Lobl, like the first episode was, but I could be wrong. Well, as I noted before, this episode introduced Darcy DeMoss, who will remain with the cast for the rest of the season.

DeMoss plays Randi, she’s an old friend of Eve’s (Barbara Alyn Woods) , her older sister used to be Eve’s roommate. She comes to Eden after having just gotten divorced and losing her business, running an Aerobics studio. Coincidentally, the woman who was the fitness instructor at Eden’s gym has just quie, so by the end of the episode, Josh (Steve Chase) recommends to Eve that they offer Randi the job, which after some brief consideration, Randi accepts.

It’s a good introduction to her character, who will become very important to the series as the season progresses. When Eve introduces her to Josh, Randi comments on how cute she thinks he is, but Eve reiterates that she doesn’t see him like that. I’ll note that DeMoss doesn’t have a sex scene or get nude in this episode, but don’t worry that will change in future episodes.

And yes, Eve has another scene where she daydreams about seeing Grant (Jeff Griggs) and having sex with him.

B.D. (Jack Armstrong) hooks up with Marney (Kristen Fontaine) late at night on the beach after work.

Andrea (Diana Barton) purposely sits next Victoria (Elizabeth Lambert) by the pool and strikes up a conversation. She even manages to get Victoria to invite her to dinner that night with her and and Ian (Christoph M Ohrt). Of course, Ian freaks out, and later goes to confront Andrea in her room, pointing out that he paid her $100k with the expectation that she’d leave. Yet, again, as she comes on to him, he can’t resist her and they have sex. This just makes Ian look increasingly pathetic. Sure, Diana Barton is attractive, but I’m not seeing why Ian finds her so irresistible no matter what she does, or how much he claims to love his wife. Again, the actors are very good, and doing the best they can with the material that they’re giving, but that material is lacking.

Chacebook rating: THREE STARS
